My 12-Week At-Home Workout Challenge: Fitness Journey for Busy Moms
Finding Time for Fitness as a Mom of Three: My 12-Week At-Home Challenge
Let’s be real — working out is tough. And when you’re a mom of three little ones, finding time to exercise feels almost impossible.
But lately, I’ve been trying to build a habit that I hope will bring me long-term joy and confidence. It’s not perfect, and I’m still figuring it out, but I want to share what’s been working (and not working) for me.
Creating a Consistent Routine
One of my biggest goals is simply to wake up consistently. I already get up at 4:40 a.m. on workdays, so I’m trying to keep that going on my days off too.
A lot of motivational YouTube videos I’ve watched (shoutout to the algorithm!) talk about the importance of consistency — waking up, working out, and sleeping at the same times each day. That structure is something I’m trying to lean into.
Why Early Mornings?
Honestly, I don’t love working out at home. I miss the gym — the environment, the energy, even the commute. But at this stage in my life, I can’t always leave the house. Trying to work out with three kids running around is pure chaos. So, early mornings it is. It’s quiet, it’s my time, and it’s the only time that really works.
Motivation vs. Vision
I recently watched a video featuring Andrew Huberman, where he talks about neuroplasticity and how powerful our brain is when it comes to building new habits. One thing he said really stuck with me: instead of relying on motivation (which is super unreliable), visualize your future. Envision greatness — the version of yourself you’re working toward. That vision is what keeps you going when motivation fades.
And if you’re like me, motivation definitely fades.
Starting a 12-Week At-Home Challenge
I’m currently doing a 12-week at-home fitness challenge by Heather Robertson, right in my garage. It’s not fancy, but it’s real and it’s happening. I’ll be sharing some photos from the beginning of my journey, and I plan to post updates each month.
Do I love sharing photos of myself? Not really. Honestly, I’m super insecure about my body. But I’m choosing growth over fear — and maybe that will encourage someone else to do the same.
If you’re interested in joining me, I’ll drop the link to the 12-week challenge below. It’s completely free, but you will need some basic equipment: dumbbells, resistance bands, a yoga mat, and blocks. I made the mistake of starting without all the gear last time, and the workouts didn’t feel complete — which made it harder to stick with it.
You’re Not Alone
This post is for the moms out there who feel like they don’t have time, space, or energy to focus on themselves. I see you. I am you. And I just want you to know — we can do hard things. One small habit at a time.
Let’s grow together.
Here is the link to the 12 week challenge:
Just so you all know — because people are curious (and maybe a little nosey) — here are a few personal details I don’t usually love sharing, but I get it. I’m 37 years old, currently weigh 241.8 pounds, and I’ve had four kids — three of them in the last four years.
Please, only good vibes here! 💛 I’m wishing you all the best on your journey too, and I can’t wait to see what progress looks like — not just in numbers, but in how we feel.
And remember: just starting is enough. Whether you work out every day, once a week, or need to skip a few days — that’s okay. This is real life, and we’re doing this at our own pace, on our own terms, with ourselves in mind — not anyone else.
We’re becoming our best selves, for ourselves, and that energy? We get to give it back to the world.
